Day 1 - Travel to Bevagna, Short Stroll and Leisure Time in Bevagna, Overnight in Bevagna

You will make an early morning departure from Rome to make our way to Bevagna.  After check-in at an elegant hotel, you will enjoy a guided stroll of this walled city and learn about its ancient origins. There are many historic sights of interest here, including the church of the Madonna of the Snow, built on the ruins of a Roman temple, and an ancient Roman bathhouse featuring mosaics depicting assorted sea creatures. Afterwards, you will have free time for self-exploration.

Day 2 – Tour of Perugia and Spello, Olive Oil Press With Tasting, Overnight in Bevagna

Today you will visit Spello, one of Umbria’s most enchanting little hill towns, and truly a joy to stroll and visit. The town is a mix of styles, from Roman to medieval; you can visit the Santa Maria Maggiore church to admire frescos from the Renaissance painter Pinturicchio. There is also a nice gelateria/bar right outside the city wall with a comfortable terrace outside the city walls where you can stop for some gelato or a drink.

Next you will stop to visit an extra-virgin olive oil producer between Spello and Trevi. This area is known for the best olive oil in Umbria. You will get to see the olive mill and cold pressing machine in action, then taste the oil with some freshly baked Umbrian bread.

Finally you will stop for a short guided tour of Perugia, a beautiful Etruscan town known for its artisanal chocolate, before returning to Bevagna.

Day 3 – Tour of Orvieto, Transfer back Rome

This morning you will stop in Orvieto, an ancient Umbrian hill town dramatically situated atop volcanic tufa rock.  Our guided tour of this charming medieval town features a beautiful Gothic cathedral and chapel where pilgrims and art lovers alike come to see Luca Signorelli's colorful frescoes vividly depicting the Apocalypse.  Orvieto is just as interesting below ground as it is above, with Etruscan and medieval caves, and the underground remains of an old olive press, for example. You may opt for a guided tour of Orvieto Underground. Orvieto is also famous for its museums, ceramics, and wines (most notably the Orvieto Classico.)  After your exploration of Orvieto, we will transfer you back to your hotel in Rome.
