Day 1 – Travel to Sorrento, Private Tours of Pompeii and the Archeological Museum in Naples, Overnight in Sorrento

Today your driver guide from Rome takes you on a day tour from Rome to Naples, Pompeii and finally charming Sorrento, perched on a bluff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. But first, you’ll meet your expert tour guide in Naples for a private tour of the National Archeological Museum’s extensive collections of Greek and Roman antiquities, particularly artifacts from Pompeii, Stabiae and Herculaneum. The building itself that houses the museum is an architectural and historical gem, built in the 17th century.
Next our expert Pompeii tour guide will take you to the lost city of Pompeii. Thirty feet of hot mud and volcanic ash buried this Roman city completely when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D. Your expert guide will show you villas, baths, storefronts, houses, pizza parlors, forum and other artifacts from this once-prosperous city, now a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Finally, you'll reach elegant Sorrento. Your driver guide will take you through the piazzas and narrow streets filled with tempting shops and tasty restaurants overlooking the rugged seaside cliffs.  You may also visit a fragrant lemon and orange grove, where you can sample and purchase limoncello, a local lemon liqueur, among other products.

Day 2 - Amalfi Coast Private Tour – Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Overnight in Rome

Today three famous seaside resort towns are featured in your tour of the Amalfi Coast, namely Positano, Ravello and the town of Amalfi on the gulf of Salerno. You will start your private tour with Positano, picture-perfect and a classy resort town with trendy boutiques, alluring cafes, and a nice beach to get your feet wet. Your next stop, Amalfi, is a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring the St. Andrea’s Cathedral, whose 57 steps will reward you with a great workout and an even greater view. The city is also home to the Museo della Carta, which introduces you to the art of paper making for which Amalfi is known.
Last stop before returning to Rome is a tour of Ravello, which has long been a retreat for artists and writers seeking their muse, from Richard Wagner to Virginia Woolf. You will be blown away by the beautiful Villas Rufolo and Cimbrone, with their gardens towering above the sea from an impressive height.
